Restoration: 1898 American LaFrance Hand-Pulled Hose Cart

In 1898,  Pittsford, New York's fire department purchased two  two hand-pulled hose carts, which they still own. One cart was stored in the fire house attic in pieces for over 40 years. When the pieces were removed from storage, they still retained some of their original paint and decoration.  The surviving decoration and original red paint was a huge help in the final phase

Restoration: 1908 American LaFrance Metropolitan

1908 American LaFrance Metropolitan 3rd-size horse-drawn steam fire engine. Built for Bath, Pennsylvania, it is equipped with a 600gpm piston-type pump powered by a two-cylinder vertical steam engine. This beautiful steamer received a full, authentic frame-up restoration, completed in 2017, featuring nickel plating, correct factory two-tone red color scheme, and 23K gold leaf decoration using factory patterns. Restoration on this special fire engine--factory record #1174--was completed summer of 2018 for its original owner, the Fire Department of Newville, Pennsylvania. It's chain driven by an American LaFrance 70hp four-cylinder T-head engine, outfitted with a 400gpm pump and 40-gallon chemical tank, and rides on original wood spoke hard rubber tires.
